What is STIRM?  Sensor Technology and Infrastructure Risk Mitigation

We are a research group focused on the development of multi-hazard probabilistic risk assessment tools for the built environment using component-based and systems-based models to estimate community impact due to natural hazards. These models account for uncertainty in the hazard, the structural and lifeline-network models, resulting losses, and human behavior. Our primary goals are to realistically model the interface between humans and their built environment during and immediately following a disaster, and to analyze the regional impacts due to compromised or severely stressed infrastructure.
